‘7UP’ is entrenched in the events surrounding Bastian’s life over the past 19 months. From the birth of his first child to the loss of childhood friends to suicide as COVID has closed in on all our lives, and the related struggles this has posed financially and as an artist in these uncertain and unprecedented times.

“From being an artist to working my day job in the event industry and as an audio engineer running my own business in a recording studio, I have felt almost every element of lockdowns as have many people. I would consider my past musical works as being fantasy thematically. However I had to touch on a lot of reality when writing ‘7UP’ and I’m sure it was as a coping mechanism to get me through some very difficult times.”
